My 3 times removed great grandparents, Giovanni and Giovanna Gobetti, were the original owners of the Union Saloon in Occidental, CA, a drinking and eating establishment for the growing town.

Giovanni and Giovana Gobetti opened the Union Saloon in 1891 to house and feed all the loggers and their families that were immigrating to the West County. Giovanna lived in what is now the Union Hotel until she sold the Saloon in 1924. 

Remembering those who came before me, and their love for authentic, ‘home cooked’ comfort food runs deep in my DNA. Appreciating and honoring their hard work and contributions to those early settlers of Occidental, is an important part of making my mark in the culinary world.
